Do you want to get lost on new trails and discover something new? See Helsinki through different eyes? Turn a different direction at the intersection? Family City Trails is just for that!

City trails lead to new neighborhoods, new places and help and inspire you to explore your home city or visit new corners as a tourist.

Family City Trails is a new kind of urban tourism concept that takes you on a discovery journey to new places and shows your home corners in a new light. It also challenges you to think about whether you always need to travel far to experience something new and unprecedented.

More varied new trails are coming to new places and new purposes: neighborhood adventures, a day in Helsinki trails, nature trails, trails to climbing spots, trails for different ages….

Where did the idea for Family City Trails come from?

"The idea for city trails came from my own interest in urban travel with children, and especially the desire to explore cities outside the city centers."

Family City Trails is part of Heidi Säynätkari's thesis work for her degree in restaurant management, which is being carried out in collaboration with Little Helsinki.
"The idea for city trails came from my own interest in urban travel with children, and especially the desire to explore cities outside the city centers. Often information is scattered across many sources and is difficult to find, so I thought why not have a website where everything would be gathered in one place. In my thesis, I research more broadly traveling in a live like local style with children, and the city trail destinations are exactly those places where locals enjoy spending time. Thanks to the city trails, I myself have awakened to seeing Helsinki's potential even more as an amazing city that has things to explore for both locals and travelers!"

The Family City Trail concept welcomes comments, ideas and thoughts - everything is gladly received and everyone helps Heidi in the final stages of her thesis work.

Family City Trails is made for all adventurers and we have thrown a challenge to all experience experts too:
