During autumn break week, many parent-child groups and activities take a break, but many organizations also arrange autumn break activities and programs for children and young people.

Art Clinic: Totally Abstract Bag at Annantalo on Monday 12-3 p.m. A non-stop workshop recommended for 3–12 year-olds (children under 8 with an adult). Free admission.
Autumn break family days at traffic city Monday through Friday and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free admission.
EasySport week at Töölö sports hall Monday through Friday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The event is aimed at elementary school-aged children. Admission 2 € / 3.50 €.
City libraries throughout Helsinki offer autumn break activities for children: story time, workshops, and themed days.
Nordic library on Kaisaniemenkatu is also open during autumn break week.
Story Day is celebrated on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Themed day events are held at, among other places, Annantalo.

Espoo: Playground tips to neighboring city Espoo - the renovated Angry Birds playground in Espoo's Leppävaara and the diverse Tapiola residents' park playground.
Some of Helsinki's city playgrounds are open during autumn break week Monday through Friday offering activities and programs for families with small children and schoolchildren. Playgrounds announce their autumn break programs on the city's event calendar and on the playgrounds' own Facebook pages.

Go on an autumn colors outing! Helsinki's parks and forests are now glowing with beautiful fall colors! Little Helsinki recommends outings to at least Tullisaari and Stansvik manor park in Laajasalo, Herttoniemi manor park, and Sibelius Park in Töölö. Espoo's Träskanda manor park is also beautiful!
Vartiosaari is accessible for outings during autumn break week when the electric ferry returns to service during the break week. The ferry takes hikers to Vartiosaari on Monday, October 17, 2022 12-5 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2022 12-5 p.m., and Sunday, October 23, 2022 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Ferry ride is paid.
Lammassaari and Kuusiluoto, Talosaari, Seurasaari, Suomenlinna, Kruunuvuori... There are numerous places suitable for outings. You can create your own theme for the outing or follow a planned route. For example, you can visit Suomenlinna in many different ways.
ANIMALS IN THE CITY
At the Winter Garden you can admire carp swimming in the greenhouse pool. The Winter Garden is also an excellent picnic destination.
Fallkulla farm's outdoor areas are open during autumn break week and the animals are out weather permitting around 10 a.m.-2 p.m. On Sunday, the farm is open for visitors 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Free admission.
At Haltiala farm's yard you can visit on your own schedule, play at the outdoor playground, and grill your own picnic in the farm's grill. The farm's animals are out even in October weather permitting.
Korkeasaari Zoo is open throughout autumn break week. The island also has several grilling spots and fun playgrounds. Admission fee.

Note that many museums are closed on Mondays, but at least Päivälehti Museum, Tram Museum, City Museum, and Amos Rex are open on Mondays (Amos Rex closed on Tuesdays!).
Kindergarten Museum in Sörnäinen is open Tuesday and Wednesday of autumn break week 12-7 p.m. Small admission fee.
Fire Museum is open Wednesday and Sunday of autumn break week 12-4 p.m. The museum at the Erottaja fire station has a small admission fee.

Travel destinations for autumn break around Finland

At most Uusimaa recreation areas you can grill in beautiful scenery.
Also remember nearby cities and municipalities: Sipoo, Porvoo, and Loviisa to the east, Espoo, Kirkkonummi, and Inkoo to the west. Fiskars has not only a beautiful setting but also an excellent playground.
There are also two national parks near Helsinki: Nuuksio and Sipoonkorpi are excellent family outing destinations.
