Suomenlinna Playground (Officers' Club Park)

The Suomenlinna playground near the main pier is small in size, but unique in atmosphere. Just the journey from the mainland to Suomenlinna and to the playground along cobblestone paths is a little adventure in itself. By taking an alternative route past the library, you can avoid most of the cobblestones. In a short walk, you can marvel at the old buildings and Suomenlinna Church, whose tower glows with a lighthouse beacon in the dark.

Near the Suomenlinna playground you can also find the Suomenlinna Library and the Suomenlinna Center, which also has a small café and souvenir shop. The Suomenlinna Center has a childcare room.

The Suomenlinna playground is not brand new, and the play equipment is mainly for younger children, with several swings available. The park is shaded by old trees and is enclosed by a low stone wall, which tempts children to climb.

Playground Equipment:

  • Swings (baby swing and regular swing)
  • Small climbing frame with a slide
  • Sandbox (which had some sand toys at the time of testing)
  • A couple of seesaws
Other:
  • This park is not fenced
  • Lots of tourists and other things to marvel at
  • Many good picnic spots nearby
