My Museum Buddy and I: Exhibition Tip for the Newspaper Museum's New Exhibition
The Pelle Peloton exhibition has ended! It's very easy to walk past the Newspaper Museum without noticing what a wonderful museum is behind the glass windows! The museum, run by the Helsinki Newspaper Foundation, showcases media history, the present day and future, as well as freedom of the press in its permanent exhibitions. The exhibitions also feature various machines and equipment from the media field, and these are definitely worth puzzling over with children. Apparently, the telephone was a cash register...The Newspaper Museum’s spring 2018 new exhibition takes you to the wonderful world of Pelle Peloton. Pelle Peloton – The World’s Fearless Inventor is an exhibition built on children’s terms, which introduces you to the world of inventions and the wonderful world of Pelle Peloton. The exhibition was on display at the Newspaper Museum from 8.3.-16.9.2018 and admission to the museum is always free.

In the exhibition, you can make predictions with an almost always functional invention machine, try out machines and gadgets, build with magnets, meet a talking dog, drive a red car from Donald Duck, and above all play the role of a fearless inventor. Here you can touch and try things, and everything is built to children’s size.
The exhibition isn’t huge, but there’s plenty to wonder at, perfectly suited for the youngest visitors. The visually impressive space and delightful colors invite you to explore and marvel.
Our young team at Little Helsinki really enjoyed spending just over an hour here, so we strongly recommend the exhibition and the entire museum from a children’s perspective. The Newspaper Museum is located a few blocks away from Esplanade Park, so it’s worth popping by even on a city trip or on a rainy day. The museum also has the most important thing, a functioning childcare room connected to an accessible toilet. In addition to Pelle Peloton, at the Newspaper Museum you should also get acquainted with the permanent exhibition, which we covered in an earlier Little Helsinki My Museum Buddy and I article.
