What Exactly Are Pienten Helsinki and Pienten Suomi?

Pienten Helsinki is an activity and event guide website for families with children, founded in 2017, that brings together kid-friendly activity tips and event information for Helsinki and the greater Helsinki area, as well as recommending places that have proven to be good for adventures with children.

Pienten Helsinki publishes a weekly Where to Go This Week roundup of upcoming family-friendly events in the greater Helsinki area. The website also features articles and feature series about, for example, museums, day trip destinations in Helsinki and the greater Helsinki area, as well as extensive other content related to family activities. Pienten Helsinki wants to encourage families to explore Helsinki and experience new things beyond events, as well as promote child-friendly urban culture and broaden perceptions of children’s culture.

Pienten Suomi, launched in summer 2020, is Pienten Helsinki’s sister site, aiming to offer travel tips for families with children throughout Finland. The focus of Pienten Suomi is on tips that are not often seen in traditional travel guides: playgrounds, swimming beaches, hiking areas, and other experiences for children. Pienten Suomi is built together with other families: all tips on the website are recommended by families who travel with children and carefully selected for the site.

In June 2024, Pienten Suomi’s map service underwent a great redesign when a new version of the website was launched! The new website was developed entirely from scratch. Pienten Suomi’s map already features over 1,000 travel tips across Finland.

The target audience for both websites is families with children under 15 years old.
