Children's Care Rooms Around the City
Where can you find the best children's care rooms? As part of the Babies in Helsinki series, Small Helsinki maps out well-tested children's care rooms around Helsinki and the surrounding area. The article includes traditional care rooms, places where you can also feed children, nursing corners, care rooms at playgrounds and other tips for making it easier to get around with small children. The main thing is that the space is functional, easily accessible and clean. The map includes publicly accessible care facilities in shopping centers and other public spaces, as well as well-tested care rooms in museums.
An excellent comment from a reader about child-friendliness and functional care rooms hopefully serves as an important guideline when your business or premises hopes to welcome child customers:
A nice care and play room alone doesn't tell the whole story about a company's or organization's child-friendliness, but rather how the care and play room is maintained in terms of cleanliness, repairs and updates.
The map is updated and tips about well-tested care facilities are happily received to help other families get around the city! Comment below or send a message to mari (a) pientenhelsinki.fi
Thank you :)

Children's Care Rooms on the Map:
Shopping Centers and Stores' Own Care Rooms
- Stockmann Helsinki Downtown, Aleksanterinkatu 52
On the 6th floor of the department store, behind the toy section, you'll find a care room, children's toilets (with a small potty!) and a small space for feeding with a microwave and a couple of high chairs. Nice views! In addition, near the children's clothing section on the toy floor there is a small play area for children. - Forum Shopping Center, Mannerheimintie 14-20
- A renovated (2024) children's care room is located on the 3rd floor of the shopping center next to the XS toy store corridor. A functional and comfortable, quite small space for childcare and feeding. The space also has the possibility to play.
- The WC facilities on the 0th floor also have a shared toilet for adults and children (large and small toilet), which has a small separate door for children. - Kamppi Center, Urho Kekkosen katu 1
The children's care room on the 3rd floor of Kamppi shopping center was renovated a few years ago and is now a quite functional facility. The care room is like a large playground! Central location and versatility and spaciousness are the best features of this care room.
- From the restaurant area on the 5th floor next to the large WC facilities, you can also find a small care room.
Tip! Instead of the busy central elevator, it's worth using the elevators next to the Urho Kekkonen street entrance. Three adjacent elevators are often uncrowded and can be found in a small separate corner to the right when looking from the entrance. - Redi Shopping Center, Hermannin rantatie 5, Kalasatama
Redi Shopping Center has several care rooms:
- Near the Reima store on the 2nd floor there is a care room with a small kitchen, chairs and tables for eating and the possibility of small-scale play.
- Opposite Tokmanni on the 1st floor you'll find a visually stunning Skidi Port play area and care room with also a carousel. However, the space has quite little to do.
- Redi's Free Port children's room is located on the 2nd floor of Redi opposite the Kalasatama library and offers, in addition to a small care area, plenty of play space and toys for small children. It is also possible to eat your own packed lunch in the space.
- Near the 5th floor outdoor Bryga Park roof playground near Redi, you'll find groups of tables, one of which also has a small chair for feeding for sunny lunch times. The roof is accessible by the shopping center's seagull elevators. - Itis Shopping Center, Itäkatu 1-7, Itäkeskus
Itis Shopping Center has three care rooms:
- The largest care room in Itis Shopping Center is located on the 2nd floor next to the Finnkino cinema corridor. - Smaller children's care rooms can be found on the 1st floor at the Piazza near Stockmann and at the Market Hall. - Kaari Shopping Center, Kantelettarentie 1, Kannelmäki
In the light Kaari Shopping Center children's care room you can also play and eat your own packed lunch. The space also has a children's own toilet. The space is clear and well designed. The care room is located on the second floor of the shopping center, behind Lindex. - Hertsi Shopping Center, Linnanrakentajantie 2, Herttoniemi
On the 2nd floor of Hertsi Shopping Center, next to the library, there is a small neat care facility. The beautifully decorated care room is functional and has at least until now also had a microwave and a chair suitable for nursing. The space is quite small and e.g. a stroller doesn't fit into the toilet area. - Mall of Tripla, Fredikanterassi 1, Pasila
Tripla Shopping Center has several care rooms.
- In connection with the toilets in Mall of Tripla, each floor has a children's care room with a changing table.

- On the so-called old side on the 4th floor near the Shortcut hairdresser you can also find a separate care room. - Espoo: Iso Omena, Piispansilta 11, Matinkylä
- Iso Omena's children's care room on the 1st floor of the shopping center next to Burger King is an extremely functional facility. Additionally, in the Children's City there is a room for eating packed lunches with a microwave and drawing supplies. The City Museum's lobby area is a living room-like place where you can spend time, for example, while the baby sleeps in the stroller. The lobby also has a few feeding chairs and a microwave. The museum always has free admission.
14. Merkki Museum, Ludviginkatu 2-4
Merkki Museum (former Päivälehti Museum) care room is in connection with an accessible toilet, but from the clean space you'll find both a changing table and a potty as well as wonderful wall writings. Care Rooms in Other Public Spaces
16. Music House, Töölönlahdenkatu
The Music House's accessibility and central location are reasons to mention the building's children's care room. The place is clean and the children's care room is also often well maintained. Many of the building's toilet facilities also have potties. The Music House's café is extremely spacious and airy, so there is guaranteed to be room for strollers.
17. Oodi Central Library, Töölönlahdenkatu 4
Oodi Central Library's care rooms are located on the 3rd floor of the library from the corner of the children's area. Oodi is generally easy to navigate with small children and from the edge of the children's area you can also find, for example, a dining table and feeding chairs.
18. and 19. Suomenlinna Visitor Center and Suomenlinna Museum, Suomenlinna
A trip to Suomenlinna can be a source of concern if there's no functional care facility in sight. Don't worry, Suomenlinna actually has a few publicly available toilet facilities, in connection with which there is at least a changing surface, for example in connection with an accessible toilet.
20. Winter Garden, Hammarskjöldintie 1 A
A care room under the palms? The toilet facilities at the Winter Garden, located on the northern shore of Töölönlahti, are free to use within opening hours and diaper changing is possible in connection with an accessible toilet. At the Winter Garden, strollers must be left outside, but the care room is close to the exit and there is also plenty of bench space next to it, for example for undressing. The Winter Garden has several tables and benches for self-catering snack breaks and the place is an excellent snack outing destination also with small children.
